International Car Shipping Services

Horizon Makes It Happen

Moving Vehicles Across Borders Takes More Than a Carrier

Shipping a car internationally involves more than arranging transport.

There are multiple steps behind the scenes — regulations, documentation, timelines, and coordination — that all need to come together before a vehicle leaves port. If one part is off, the shipment can stall.

That's where Horizon Auto Shipping comes in.

We provide international car shipping services built around managing the full process — not just the transport. From export and import requirements to freight coordination and final delivery, we help keep everything moving the way it should.

And while many customers come to us for car shipping, that's only part of what we do. We also handle motorcycles, boats, RVs, and heavy equipment, all within the same structured international process.

International Car Shipping Services

Horizon manages the moving parts behind international vehicle shipping, including:

Vehicle export coordination from the United States Vehicle import coordination into the United States
Freight forwarding for vehicles and specialty cargo
Customs documentation and regulatory compliance
Container and RoRo shipping arrangements

Instead of handing the process off between providers, we stay involved from the beginning through delivery.

What We Ship

Most people think of cars first — and that's a big part of what we do. But our work regularly includes a much wider range of cargo.

Passenger vehicles and daily drivers
Classic car shipping for collectors and specialty vehicles
Motorcycle shipping for individual bikes and collections
Recreational boats and jet skis
RV shipping for motorhomes, caravans, and trailers
Commercial vehicles, including buses and trucks
Aircraft and helicopters
Agricultural and industrial equipment
Vehicle parts and specialty cargo

Every shipment is different. The requirements change based on the vehicle, the destination, and the regulations involved. Our role is to sort through that and build the right plan from the start.

Shipping Methods

There isn't one "standard" way to ship a vehicle internationally. The right method depends on what you're shipping, where it's going, and how it needs to be handled.

Container Shipping

Used for higher-value vehicles, collector cars, and shipments that require added protection. The vehicle is secured inside a container for transit.

Roll-On/Roll-Off (RoRo)

Often the most efficient option for operable and oversized vehicles. The vehicle is driven onto the vessel and secured for transport.

Flat Rack Shipping

For vehicles that won't fit inside a standard container. Cargo is secured to an open platform, allowing transport of larger dimensions or unusual shapes.

MAFI Shipping

Specialized roll trailers for cargo that cannot operate under its own power. Equipment is loaded onto the trailer and transported using port handling systems.

Air Freight

Less common, but sometimes necessary. Air freight is most often used when timing is critical and speed outweighs cost.

Our Process

International car shipping works best when the process is clear from the beginning. Here's how Horizon approaches it:

We start by understanding what's being shipped, where it's going, and what timeline you're working with. From there, we determine the best route and shipping method.

This is where most issues happen — and where we spend the most time getting things right. We handle the required documentation and coordinate compliance with agencies like the EPA and DOT when needed. Our in-house licensed customs broker ensures everything is prepared correctly before the shipment moves.

Vehicles are moved to port or to our Houston facility for staging, inspection, and preparation. If packing is required, it's handled here.

The shipment moves via container, RoRo, or air freight. We coordinate with carriers and international partners throughout the process.

We manage clearance on the export or import side, working through any regulatory requirements and helping avoid unnecessary delays.

Once the vehicle arrives, we coordinate the final step — whether that's delivery or pickup at the destination.

At each stage, we stay involved so you're not left trying to figure out what happens next.
